Home buying is an exciting, crazy, sometimes disorganized time in life. So many things to account for! Luckily, we’re living in the future and have a multitude of mobile applications that aim to make life easier. Here are suggestions for a few apps that new home buyers have sworn by.

Quicken Loan’s Mortgage Calculator

From the folks who made Turbo Tax comes another convenient app: a mortgage calculator. It’s so tempting to think you can stretch your monthly mortgage budget to afford the house with the extra bedroom, right? Use a mortgage calculator and get a better estimate than simply guessing. Plug in your info to the app, and voila, it will give you an idea of what you can afford. The mix of four calculators (Purchase Calculator, Home Affordability Calculator, Refinance Calculator and Amortization Calculator) is available for download on Apple and Android phones, but they’re also available for desktop on the Quicken webpage.

Homesnap

Zillow, Trulia, and Redfin have dominated the house hunting app scene for a while, but newcomer Homesnap gets points for fast updates and the ability to send important info quickly in-app to your roommates, SO, or realtor. It has almost 10,000 reviews and 4.8 stars on the Apple Store, so they must be doing something right. It’s also available from the Google Play store.

Homestyler

When touring a prospective home, one of the biggest struggles is imagining the colors, furniture, and decorations you love being a part of it. The Homestyler app is super cool in that it lets you take a picture of a room and simulate what design changes you want to make in it. Available via Apple Store and Google Play.
